What conditions are treated with peels?
Chemical peels can assist with mild acne, uneven skin pigmentation, sun damage, dull skin, and fine wrinkles. To get the best results for any of these conditions a series of peels is recommended, spaced 3 weeks apart.
What does the procedure involve?
Prior to your treatment you will have a consultation to decide the most appropriate peel prescription for you. You will then have the procedure, risks and benefits explained in detail, and be given some written information regard chemical peels.
On the day of the peel, the Nurse will cleanse your skin, protect any sensitive areas and apply the peel with a brush. This will remain on your skin for a certain length of time as prescribed by the doctor. After your peel is neutralised, you will be given instructions on how to care for your skin until your next visit.
Mild dryness and flaking may be experienced in the week after the peel.
What will I look like afterwards?
Some mild redness may be present after the procedure which usually settles within an hour or so. It is also important to protect the skin from the sun and you will have sunscreen applied before you leave the clinic.
If you are planning to return to work immediately after your appointment, we have a specialist post procedure foundation (Oxygenetix) which can be applied by our skilled staff and will also assist with the rejuvenation process.
