VASCULAR LASER (ELLIPSE ndYAG)

At Melbourne City Dermatology the dermatologists and nurses use Vascular Laser (Ellipse ndYAG) to treat blood vessels, rosacea, haemangiomas, spider nevi and leg veins. This laser uses Selective Waveband Technology (SWT®) for effective and comfortable vein treatments. The patented cooling system SoftCool™ ensures you experience minimal discomfort throughout the treatment.

The Ellipse ndYAG Vascular Laser works by releasing one wavelength of light, which targets different colours in your skin. When your targeted skin absorbs the light energy from the laser, it becomes converted to heat. This destroys the unwanted blood vessel while the surrounding tissue remains unharmed.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR VASCULAR LASER TREATMENT

Before your vascular laser treatment, we will apply a topical anaesthetic to the treatment area to numb it. To ensure minimal discomfort, if deeper vessels need to be treated a local anaesthetic injection may be required. During the procedure you will wear safety eyewear to protect your eyes.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER YOUR VASCULAR LASER TREATMENT

After your vascular laser treatment, you may feel as if you have a mild case of sunburn. This can last for the rest of the day. It is important to note that swelling and redness is common and may last from one to two days.
